Our story begins in the 1800s where many traders from the Middle East, having arrived in Singapore earlier, made their home in Kampong Glam (Arab Street and North Bridge Road) area. The Alsagoff family was one of these early immigrants. They built many houses in the area and today, many of them have been preserved. If you are traveling along Jalan Sultan, you will be able to see two of these houses viz. The Wisma Alsagoff and Alsagoff Arab School.
M. Abdul Rahiman was the Master Chef of Alsagoff family during those times and had served the family many delicious dishes.
